Description
The Dovecot at Montcoffer House dates from around 1790 and is a two-stage, cylindrical structure designed in the Gothic style. Currently, it is roofless as of 1990. The exterior is harled, featuring grey ashlar dressings and chamfered reveals. A tall, narrow, pointed arch doorway is located on the north side, with an arrow slit opening above it. The second stage includes a pointed arch panel with tiered flight-holes, three stone ledges, and nine flight holes. Arrow slit openings with windows above are repeated twice around the dovecot, and there is a cruciform apex to the arrow slit on the south side. Inside, the walls are lined with brick and stone nests.
