Description

The memorial stone to William Pitt and Viscount Melville, located at South Lodge on the Pitfour House Estate, dates from 1816. The structure features surviving outer piers, which are broad and circular in a Roman Doric style, lacking bases and topped with round abaci that support urns. A memorial tablet honoring Pitt and Viscount Melville is set between Roman Doric pilasters made of red granite in a screen wall on the eastern side.
