Description
The Camphill Column is a Grade II* monument erected in 1814 to commemorate the Peace of 1814, located on the site of a British Camp. It features a square base with two steps, which includes inscriptions dedicated to Pitt, Wellington, Nelson, and Henry Collingwood Selby, the builder of the monument. The tall column has a high base and is designed according to 'Vitruvian' principles, topped with a ball. The entire structure is made of stone and was constructed by mason John Hall.
