Description
62 Albury Road in Aberdeen is a single storey and attic mirrored pair of three-bay cottages ornees, designed by Duncan McMillan around 1872. The cottages are harled and whitewashed, with stone margins on No. 62. They feature overhanging eaves and pierced decorative timber bargeboards.
The principal elevation is symmetrical, with gabled granite doorways that are set forward in the center. These doorways have panelled timber doors and segmental-arched fanlights above. In the attic, there are gabled two-pane dormers positioned centrally. The inner bays have bipartite windows flanking the doorways, while above, a bipartite gabled dormer with a pierced trefoil is present. The outer bays are advanced and feature canted windows on the ground floor, with Tudor-arched windows set in the gableheads.
The northeast, northwest, and southwest elevations were not visible in 1999. No. 60 has predominantly two-pane timber sash and case windows, while No. 62 has replacement PVCu glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a lead ridge, topped with decorative ironwork on No. 62. The gableheads and ridge stacks are made of coped granite and feature octagonal and circular cans, along with cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 1999, and the boundary walls consist of coped rubble walls to the southeast.
