Bank, 162, 164, 166 Market Street, Aberdeen

The building at 162, 164, and 166 Market Street in Aberdeen is a three-storey and attic Edwardian Baroque office structure designed by Jenkins & Marr, dated 1903. It features a decorative curvilinear gable topped with a chimneystack and is constructed from grey granite ashlar, which is rough hewn at the gable. The building has a dividing cornice above the ground floor and a dentilled cornice over the second storey. Rock-faced pilasters separate the bays on the ground floor, while channelled Ionic pilasters divide the bays on the first and second storeys. A central decorative panel with a pediment in the gable is flanked by windows.

The street elevation faces east and includes a central segmental arched doorway, flanked by aluminium-framed plate glass office fronts with polished granite stall risers. The first and second storeys feature gently canted three-light windows, and the attic windows have decorative architraves. Urn finials are located at the outer left and right of the gable.

The building has nine-pane over plate glass timber sash and case windows on the first and second storeys, and twelve-pane windows in the attic. The roof is a grey slate mansard with coped gable stacks. The interior was not seen during the last survey in 2006.
