Topshop Topman, 73-77 (Odd Nos) Union Street

Topshop Topman, located at 73-77 Union Street, is a distinctive 4-storey Art Deco shop designed by George Watt in 1929. It features a 5 x 3-bay layout and is situated at a key junction in the city center, with elevations facing north on Union Street and east on Market Street. The central section of the building has a shallow pediment and rises from the first to the second storey, with pilasters that divide the bays. The exterior is made of grey granite ashlar, with render and rubble on the rear. The shopfront has a broad, corniced fascia and a shallow stepped blocking course adorned with decorative roundels. The shopfront has been altered and now includes a corner entrance added in 2006.

The windows are predominantly 4-light margined casement metal windows, with plate glass at the ground level. There is also a coped gable stack. The interior was seen in 2006 and has been comprehensively modernised.
