West Lodge and West Cottage, Church Road, Bessbrook, Co. Armagh, BT35 7AQ

These are a pair of near-symmetrical one-and-a-half-storey three-bay lodges, originally serving as gates and screens. They are now used as houses. The lodges are constructed of random-coursed rock-faced Newry Granodiorite stone walling with red brick dressings, and are flanked by original wrought iron entrance gates hung on square section stone pillars.

The western lodge is in the better-preserved original condition with a natural slate roof, exposed moulded timber rafters to the eaves, a central chimney with two pots, and original double-hung sliding sash windows with horizontal glazing bars. The eastern lodge has a single-storey return to the northwest and a flat-roofed stone extension to the east. This lodge has a fibre cement roof with a half dormer and uPVC top-opening casement windows throughout, along with uPVC rainwater goods. A stone garden boundary walling surrounds the buildings.
