Description
The building, originally known as Tirsah, was surveyed in the First Survey but not listed. It has since been demolished and rebuilt as a shop and café, now known as the Beehive Enterprise Centre. This record reflects observations made during the Second Survey. A small, open public garden, named 'SHELTER and TIRSAH', remains. The southern entrance features smooth rendered dwarf walling with rounded stone coping, topped by painted hooped metal railings. The capstones of the square-section entrance pillars display the name 'TIRSAH'. Decorative cast iron pillars support timber pergolas above paved walkways on the north, west, and east sides of the garden, with a central lawn area. A datestone on the north wall records that the garden was erected in 1911 for the people of Bessbrook in memory of Helena and Jane Marion Richardson, by James N. Richardson. The garden is now owned by the Bessbrook Development Company.
