RUC Station, Church Road, Bessbrook, Co. Armagh, BT35 7AQ

This building was surveyed in the First Survey but not listed. A partial record only was taken during the Second Survey as the building is not worthy of a full survey. Limited access but, where visible, consists of a much altered and extended two storey multi bay pitched roof former RUC station, two bays deep, with two bay block narrowly projecting to NW. Generally painted roughcast walling with later reinforced concrete to base of building and to areas surrounding main entrance door; replacement corrugated metal roof. Central two bays of main block project SW, with entrance door to SE of projecting section having pilasters flanking classical square-headed door case with keystone detail and sheet metal door. Smooth render window architraves with a more detailed decorative window architrave above door. Metal top opening casement windows throughout with steel plates fitted. High boundary wall to NW is also of some interest as is the original decorative cast iron foot gate with lock to SW.
