Description
Left of a pair of three storey buildings set in terrace on south side of Margaret Street Roof is hipped natural slate with a cement render chimney rising from wall head on left elevation. Rain water goods are ½ round plastic. One cast iron rooflight to rear of left hip, and one to front slope. Wall to façade is painted, lined render, with a projecting brick eaves course. Recessed at ground floor right is modern door to upper floors. Rest of ground floor contains an inappropriate modern recessed shopfront with timber sheeted casing and flush door to extreme left leading to rear yard. Original cast iron posts support fascia on front wall line, now covered with illuminated box sign across width of facade. At first floor are two modern top hung windows with sign boards in bottom windows. To second floor are two 6/6 sliding sash windows with no horns. All windows to façade have granite cills. Fixed to wall below second floor cill level is a modern fascia advertising occupant; and projecting to right of right second floor window is another plastic sign. Right gable is party wall with no.16 (HB16/28/043b) and left elevation is abutted by a lower building; remainder of wall is lined, render. Rear Elevation is cement rendered. It is abutted to centre and left by a two storey return with a hipped roof which ties into main roof. Remainder of rear wall has the alley to street at ground floor and a window to each floor above. Both are 4/4 sliding sashes, although bottom sash of first floor window is boarded up from outside. Walls to rear return are all rendered. Left cheek and rear wall are blank. Right cheek has four equally spaced openings. Second on left is a sheet metal door; others are blocked up windows. To each upper floor are four openings, each in line with openings below. Those to first floor are 6/6 sliding sashes and those to second floor are 6/3 sliding sashes and diminished in height.
