Description

Woodside was a one-and-a-half-story, double-pile house built between 1820 and 1839. The house, originally harled and colour-washed, appears on the 1834 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map at its location on Newry Road, Kilkeel. A 1972 survey card describes it as having a rectangular, decorated fanlight above the front door, with twelve-paned sash windows flanking either side. The building was demolished in 1974 and replaced with a modern dwelling of a different design. The site is within the townland of Ballymagart. Primary sources consulted include the Ordnance Survey map (PRONI- OS 6/3/55/1 – Down sheet 55) and the first Heritage Monument Buildings Branch survey card, dated 07/11/1972. Woodside has been demolished and is not currently listed.
