Description

This is a detached single-storey garage, built c.1930. It is long and rectangular in plan and has a distinctive segmental-arched ‘Belfast Truss’ roof. The building is set on the corner of Hanover Square and Urbal Road. The front North elevation faces onto Hanover Square and is gable ended. It has a square-headed window to the left with a timber casement window. There is a large square-headed door to the right. The side East elevation has four square-headed openings, now obscured by timber or corrugated clear plastic sheeting. The side West elevation has no openings. The rear South elevation is covered by foliage to the boundary and is not visible. External walls are painted render to the gables, and corrugated metal to the side East and West elevations. The roof is also curved corrugated metal. Rainwater goods appear to be cast-iron. Setting: The shed is located on the prominent corner between Hanover Square and Urbal Road. There is a large tarmac area to the front, and a pavement to the side. Urbal Road and Hanover Square are largely mixed, comprised of buildings from early Victorian to mid-twentieth century.
