Kilwaughter Limeworks, 9 Starbog Road, Kilwaughter, Larne, Co Antrim, BT40 2TJ

Kilwaughter Limeworks is an industrial site with limited historical interest, having largely lost its original 19th-century structures. The site possesses minimal architectural interest but retains some industrial archaeological significance. A segmental arched bridge, built of white limestone rubble in 1884 and originally forming the quarry entrance, was substantially demolished since 1970. Only a small rectangular chamber remains within the eastern abutment. This chamber is constructed of limestone rubble with brick dressings around the openings; it features a segmental arched doorway on the front face and a segmental arched doorway with a barred window on the north end. Grass now covers the exposed top of the chamber. The chamber stands at the entrance driveway to the quarry, situated back from the main road within a rural setting. An inscribed keystone recorded in 1970 marked the bridge’s construction date of 1884.
