Kilwaughter Orange Hall, Deerpark Road, Kilwaughter, Larne, Co Antrim

Kilwaughter Orange Hall is a Victorian building dating to 1873, though construction likely began between 1860 and 1879. It is a single-storey gabled hall of limited architectural interest, valued primarily for its local historic and community significance. The hall has a replacement roof covered in asbestos slate, smooth cement-rendered walls, and rusticated quoins. Windows are timber sliding sash windows, vertically hung with a 2 over 2 configuration, featuring horns and simplified Gothic tracery bars. Cast iron and PVC rainwater goods are in place. The three-bay front elevation features a round-headed central doorway flanked by round-headed windows. A sandstone shield panel above the doorway is inscribed “Kilwaughter Orange Hall 1873.” The doorway has steel replacement doors below a fanlight with circular tracery, and the windows have sandstone cills. The building is situated at a crossroads in a rural location, with a few houses nearby. A concrete area extends in front, and a rendered boundary wall incorporates an original cast iron pedestrian gate. The hall is owned by the Orange Order and is currently in use as a hall.
