St Mary’s Primary School, Agnew Street, Larne, Co Antrim, BT40 1RF

St Mary’s Primary School is an inter-war example of a school building, constructed between 1920 and 1939. The building is a gabled single-storey structure, with a flat-roofed entrance block at one end. The walls are wet dashed and painted white, with a slated roof. It features large, rectangular metal-framed windows in the main block, incorporating ocular windows. Each end gable is topped with large ball finials.

The school is situated well away from the road, immediately surrounded by tarmac and accessed by a tarmac path. It is located close to a listed Victorian church.

Originally built in 1925 as St Mary’s Girls Public Elementary School, it was subsequently renamed St Mary’s Primary School. In 1993, the school merged with St Joseph’s Primary School to form St MacNissi’s Primary School. The building remains in use as a school and is owned by the Roman Catholic Church.
