Description

A limestone and basalt rubble structure on a rectangular plan, built into the side of a hill, with a segmental arch of red brick to the front opening which splays inwards and contains a similar recessed arch and a rusty iron girder inserted under it above the draw hole; crude cement pointing in places; top of kiln grassed and fenced off with barbed wire. It stands on its own in a rural location on a grassy bank just above the beach at Portmuck Bay from where it is very easily viewed.
