This is a two-room vernacular direct entry cottage, likely built between 1820 and 1839. It is characterized by its beautifully situated location in a depression alongside a bend in the River Lynn at Drumalief, near Limavady. The interior room arrangement presents an interesting hybrid design. The cottage retains a remarkable number of original features, with the exception of the concrete floors and the upper room fireplace. Notably, a door stop fashioned from a broken horseshoe iron is still present.

The main facade of the cottage faces west, overlooking a yard formed by the river's bend. The roof is now covered with corrugated metal, replacing the original thatch. A white-washed barn stands in line to the north, featuring a lean-to shed attached to its gable. Concrete block sheds, with corrugated metal roofing matching the main house, are situated to the south. The entrance door is centrally placed, and a single four-pane sash window is located on the south side, with two smaller four-pane sashes on the north side. Two chimneys rise from the ridge, one at each end of the building. Immediately behind the house is a barn constructed of sand and cement-rendered blockwork, matching the house’s width and pitch, and measuring 1.5 metres in width. The rear facade of the house has four small sash windows, spaced unevenly. There is no bed outshot.

A white-washed barn, extending in a line with the main house, stands to the north. It has a lean-to shed against its gable and features small sash windows to the rear. A series of concrete block sheds, matching the roof of the house, are arranged along the south side.

The property is set within a dip in the landscape, surrounded by the hills of the Lynn river valley and lies perpendicular to Windyhill Road, approximately 20 metres away. Well-maintained gate posts with strap iron gates enhance the setting to the west, within a field.

The building appears on an Ordnance Survey map of 1831, and a photograph taken early in the 19th century shows the cottage with a thatched roof. While windows have been slightly altered since, a half door remains. The north barn's entrance has been widened, and a window blocked up, with the thatch continuing over the barn. The barns themselves are constructed of blockwork. The condition of the original roof structure is not ascertainable, but a neighbour recalls the thatch being removed around 1950. The listing includes the house and associated outbuildings.
