Pump No. 1, Park Lane, Gilford, Co. Down

The structure originally comprised a lever-action pump, likely manufactured between 1900 and 1919 by Lee Howl & Co. of Tipton, England, identifiable by a flag logo inscribed on its column. It was probably a ‘Paragon cistern pump’. The pump was mounted on a wooden post within a stone alcove on the right-hand side of Park Lane, adjacent to a now derelict farmhouse in the Loughans townland. The column was a plain design with a cap. The pump was removed sometime between 1995 and 2006, leaving only the stone alcove. The site retains industrial archaeological interest and was recorded as derelict in 2006.
