Pump, opposite 10 Park Lane, Gilford, Co. Down

This is a lever-head water pump of a functional design, situated on Park Lane in Gilford, County Down, opposite the owner's house. The pump is notable due to the rarity of such examples in public view. It is an open-head lever type with a plain, undecorated column and a fluted cap, manufactured by Lee, Howl and Co of Tipton, England. It is identified as a ‘Paragon colonial suction’ model. Located at the north end of Park Lane, the pump was originally installed around 1929 by the current owner’s grandfather.
