Redmond's Bridge, Grange Road, Portadown, Co Armagh

This is a late 18th-century bridge, likely constructed between 1780 and 1799, carrying Grange Road over the Tall River. The bridge is named for the Redmond family, who owned Grange Farm nearby. It is located in a rural setting, surrounded by fields in the townlands of Drummannon and Grange Lower.

The bridge is built of rubble masonry and features two semi-circular arches, with rough stone voussoirs visible on both faces. It has projecting refuges at parapet level on each side, formed by salient angle piers. Limestone copings define the parapets, and the soffits are later rendered. The carriageway is slightly humped, with narrow pavements at the crest. Grass verges sit beyond the pavements. The parapets extend to form approach walls, although a section of spandrel, parapet, and approach wall at the south end on the west side was replaced with concrete blockwork.

The bridge appears on the Ordnance Survey map of 1834 and is of industrial archaeological interest, demonstrating characteristics of style, proportion, ornamentation, plan form, structural system, and setting. It holds local historical interest.
