Rose Cottage, 39 Ardress Road, Portadown, Craigavon, Co Armagh, BT62 1SE

Rose Cottage was a single-storey, L-shaped cottage located at 39 Ardress Road, Portadown, Craigavon. Based on its appearance on the Ordnance Survey map of 1834-5, and likely constructed between 1820 and 1839, the cottage was named ‘Rose Cottage’ by 1859. The roof was corrugated iron with plain bargeboards, and the gable ends were rendered and painted. The front elevation featured six double-hung windows without astragals, each with a plain band surround. A gabled porch with a slated roof and plain bargeboards was situated between the second and third windows. The doorway was topped by a segmental arch containing a sunrise fanlight above a sheeted door and plain sidelights. The front facade was approximately 62 feet wide. The cottage featured brick chimneys. It was described as being in fair condition in 1974, at the time of the first Ordnance Survey. The cottage has since been demolished and replaced by a new house. It was located within the townland of Brughas and was owned privately.
