Bridge, Mill Road, Ballyministragh/Balloo, Killinchy, Co Down

A small road bridge crosses the River Blackwater on Mill Road, situated on the northeastern edge of the hamlet of Balloo in Killinchy, County Down. Constructed between 1820 and 1839 of whinstone rubble, the bridge features two roughly segmental arches and cutwaters on both sides. A water pipe passes through the arches and the cutwater on the southwest side. Four tie rods have been inserted into the bridge relatively recently, after 1972, and marks in the tarmac indicate their positions. The parapet has flat coping.

The bridge is shown on Ordnance Survey maps from 1834 and 1858–60. Located to the north of the bridge was a corn and flax mill, noted in valuation records from around 1861 as being owned by a John Frew. The bridge and its surrounding area possess industrial archaeological interest.
