Description
The road bridge crossing the River Blackwater at Wickham Mill dates from the 18th century and has undergone later repairs and an extension to the east. It is constructed of red brick with some black brick dressings. The west face features three main arches and two small overflow arches to the south. The main arches are adorned with keystones and display three orders of red and black brickwork. There are two central cutwaters made of brick and six circular tie plates, with a continuous brick band above. The bridge has stone coping. The east face, which is of a later date, consists of arches made of black brick, with keystones on the three main arches, two brick cutwaters, a band above, and stone copings. This bridge is an attractive structure and has good group value with the mill bridge and Wickham Place.
