Description
Carters is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with later brick facing. It is timber framed and faced with red brick, featuring gault dressings. The cottage has an outshot at the rear and a red plain tiled roof with a dentilled eaves cornice. The gables have bargeboards, and the building includes gault brick quoins, ornate bands, and gauged window arches. It is two storeys high and has one window range of small paned horizontal sliding sashes with panelled shutters. There is a small paned door on the left return, leading to a gabled red tiled porch supported by curved brackets, which also has bargeboards on the gable. A small window is present in the outshot. There is a 20th-century rear extension. Inside, much of the original frame is exposed, showing through bracing in the walls, chamfered bridging joists, and corner cupboards.
