26 Warren Road, Donaghadee, Co Down, BT21 0DT

26 Warren Road is a substantial two and a half storey late Victorian terrace house of approximately 1895, forming the second house from the south in a block of four matching properties set on a slight rise overlooking the coastline north of Donaghadee. The terrace is located west of Warren Road, north of Donaghadee town centre.

The asymmetric front elevation faces east. To the left on the ground floor is the main entrance, consisting of a panelled timber door with an almost semicircular arched fanlight, surrounded by moulded surround with plain pilasters and architrave with keystone, accessed by steps. Directly above the doorway on the first floor is a window set within a segmental headed opening with slightly mannerist moulded surround featuring keystone and shoulder and base blocks. A sash frame fills this window, as do most windows throughout the house. Above this on the attic level is a much smaller similar window set within a gabled half-dormer.

The large curved bay to the right of the elevation dominates the design, topped with a slated conical roof with finial. It contains three windows to ground and first floor levels. Both sets of windows rest on a sill course with further moulded courses above window level to each floor, and a bracketed eaves course. All these courses continue across the entire front elevation of the whole terrace. The front façade is finished in painted rusticated render at ground floor level with painted plain render above. A bevelled base course and prominent eaves course run across the façade.

To the rear, a large three storey gabled return projects to the right. Its south face contains a window on the first floor and one on the second floor. The west-facing gable has two windows on the first floor and one on the second floor. A modern conservatory extension has been added to the ground floor. The north face of the return contains a doorway on the ground floor to the left with two windows to the right. Between the door and the first window is an original-looking pump attached to the wall. There is a window to the far left on the first floor and another to the far left on the second floor. To the narrow exposed section of the rear façade of the main house, left of the return, there is a window on the ground floor, one on the first floor, and a much smaller window on the attic floor set in a gabled half-dormer. The rear elevation and return are finished in painted render. The gabled roof is slated with sawtooth ridge tiles and a tall rendered chimney stack to the north with cornice course. The return roof is also slated. Rainwater goods appear to be mainly cast iron.

The terrace appears on the Ordnance Survey map of 1901 and was probably built around 1895, though one resident has suggested 1899.
