Description

A terrace of two-storey houses, originally dating from probably the early 19th century, now stands as a group with no special architectural or historic interest. The houses have slated roofs and rendered walls, with red brick chimneys, some of which have been rebuilt in modern brick.

No. 41 retains a roughly rendered and white-painted finish, rectangular timber sliding sash windows with a 1 over 1 configuration, horns, and a modern flush timber door. Nos. 43 and 45 are combined into a single dwelling, incorporating a modern garage doorway. The main entrance is a modern timber panelled door with sidelights, and the windows are modern PVC fixed lights and top-hung vents. No. 47 has roughcast walls, rectangular timber sliding sash windows with a 6 over 3 configuration, horns, and a timber panelled door. No. 49 has roughcast walls and modern timber fixed lights, side-hung casements, and a ledged timber door. Cast iron rainwater goods are present throughout the terrace. The rear elevations are of a similar character to the front. No. 49 has a modern two-storey rear return with PVC rainwater goods and wet dashed rendering.

The precise date of construction has not been recorded, but these buildings are shown on an Ordnance Survey map of 1832, although the extent of their construction at that time is indeterminate. They are likely to date from the early 19th century and have undergone alterations since. The buildings stand facing directly onto the street and are located within a conservation area.
