Description

This is a terrace of two-storey houses dating to the mid-19th century, appearing on an Ordnance Survey map of 1857. The terrace consists of two types of property. Numbers 19-23 have pebble-dashed walls with smooth, rendered and painted dressings. They have a roof of Bangor blue slates laid in regular courses, with modern rooflights and modern brick chimneys. The doorways are modern, featuring rectangular panelled timber doors surmounted by radially glazed fanlights within panelled surrounds, and are approached by stone steps. Windows are modern rectangular timber sliding sash windows, vertically hung with a 1 over 1 configuration and horns. Rainwater goods are a mixture of cast iron and PVC. Numbers 25 and 29 have similarly slated roofs with red terracotta ridge tiles, and red brick chimneys which are missing some original moulded brick cornices. Walls are rendered with a dry dash finish, with moulded brick eaves courses. Most windows are modern timber fixed lights with top-hung vents, although number 29 retains original timber sliding sash windows with a 1 over 1 configuration and horns. Gutters and downpipes are of PVC. The doors are modern rectangular panelled timber. The terrace at numbers 19-23 faces the main street, set back slightly behind original cast iron railings on low stone plinth walls, while numbers 25-29 face directly onto the street. The buildings are located within a conservation area.
