Description

ST4717 STOKE SUB HAMDON CP NORTH STREET (West side) 6/325 Remains of barn about 15 metres west of The Priory - GV II Former barn. Possibly C15/C16, gutted by fire in 1969. Ham stone roughly cut and squared; roofless. Building without porch set at right angles to the thatched barn NW of The Priory (q.v): gables intact, with arrow-slit windows at high level, and also lower on east gable, and with remains of 2 more in south wall; former positions of doorways marked; on south side an extension, also now roofless, which had a 2-light ovolo-mould mullioned window high in gable. Primarily included for its relevance to a medieval complex, and for its part in the setting of The Priory (q.v).
