Description

The remains of a former barn, possibly dating from the 15th or 16th century, are located about 15 metres west of The Priory. The barn was gutted by fire in 1969 and is constructed from roughly cut and squared Ham stone. It is currently roofless and does not have a porch. The building is set at right angles to the thatched barn northwest of The Priory. The gables are intact and feature arrow-slit windows at a high level, as well as lower windows on the east gable, with the remains of two additional windows in the south wall. The former positions of doorways can be identified. On the south side, there is an extension, also roofless, which originally had a high gable with a 2-light ovolo-mould mullioned window. This structure is primarily noted for its connection to a medieval complex and its contribution to the setting of The Priory.
