Description
This barn, dating from the 15th century, is located approximately 50 metres northwest of Priory Church. It is constructed of rubble with ashlar detailing and features a pantiled roof, coped raised verges, and saddlestones. The barn is large, consisting of seven bays on the south side, which are divided by buttresses that have set-offs. There are diagonal buttresses at all four corners and on the south gabled porch, each with circular bases. The south side has minor doorways with four-centred heads for all bays except the westernmost, and there are additional doorways on the sides of the porch, with the one in the easternmost bay being a later addition. The north side has lost its transept and now only shows a blocked doorway and a blocked window. The roof features arch brace, collar, and tie beam construction with a single tier of windbraces, which is a replica from 1934. At the east end of the barn, there is a well with a flight of steps leading down to its rock-cut level.
