Description
The north boundary wall to Wigborough Manor House and Dairy Lodge, along with the north-west gateway, is a boundary structure that likely dates back to the 16th century, with modifications made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from roughly squared and coursed ham stone, featuring ashlar dressings. The wall stands between 2 and 3 meters high, topped with a thin coping. Towards the eastern end, the wall steps down and has an angled coping with a roll top. West of Dairy Lodge, the wall reduces to about 1.1 meters in height. The north-west gateway is defined by two convex quarter-circle sections that lead back to square ashlar gate piers. These piers have moulded plinths, cornice caps, steps, and necked supports for ball finials, with a 20th-century timber gate in between. This structure is an important part of the setting for Wigborough Manor House.
