Description

This pair of cottages at Bridge Farm dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed from ham stone near-ashlar. The cottages feature a roof covered with single Roman clay tiles, set between coped gables with roll finials, and a central ashlar chimney stack. The design includes a double roof and a cruciform plan, with two storeys and two gabled bays, along with gabled side projections.

Notable architectural details include a chamfered plinth and a string course. The cottages have hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses, with labels above. The windows feature horizontal-bar casement infills, with two-light windows above and three-light windows below, all topped with pointed segmental relieving arches. The side projections have matching two-light windows in their end gables, and the roadside returns have boarded doors in segmental-arched openings.

There is a single-storey hipped roof extension at the rear. Aside from the addition of simple 20th-century porches to each house, the pair appears to have undergone little alteration, although the interiors have not been seen.
