Description
Folly tower located 20 meters south of the stables complex, built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of local stone coursed rubble and features a flat roof that is concealed by a parapet. The tower has a circular plan and includes four buttresses that were added around 1929. It is a four-stage tower with string courses and battlemented parapets. The buttresses are battered and curved, with flat offsets. There is a circular arched doorway on the northeast side, along with various pointed arched openings at all stages, some of which have ornamental leaded light windows. Iron straps are fitted around each level, positioned above the string courses and installed before the buttresses. The owner in March 1983 believed it to be a remnant of the estate of an earlier house that once stood on the site, which is part of a larger estate that includes many notable items. The main house, built in 1881, is of lesser interest and is not listed.
