Description
The Old Down Inn is a late 18th-century inn located at the junction of two former toll roads. It is constructed from coursed and squared rubble with dressed freestone quoins, featuring a moulded eaves cornice and a hipped double-Roman tile roof with rendered stacks. The building has a symmetrical front, consisting of two storeys and a layout of 2:3:2 bays, with the central three bays slightly set forward. The windows are sash style with glazing bars and are set within stone architraves. The central door opening contains a half-glazed door with a moulded stone surround, and there is a tiled portico with a triangular pediment supported by two pillars and two pilasters. Additionally, the right side of the building features a canted bay.
