Description

The Old Presbytery is a 17th-century structure that incorporates part of a medieval building, remodelled with extensions during the mid-19th century. It incorporates the manor house of St Catherine's and is constructed of rubble with a pantile roof. The building has an irregular eastern facade, featuring an 18th-century gabled projection to the left with a single range of windows and a two-story annexe to the right, above a mid-19th century door. A small gable sits over a dormer, and there is a range of casement windows, with part of a 15th or 16th century moulded window head set into the wall. The right side has an uneven gable with a cross at the apex and a paired lancet window below, part of a two-story chapel wing also with paired lancets. The rear of the building has a gable to the attic, with mid-19th century glazing bar sash windows in three ranges, and a chapel wing at right angles to the left. The building is included on the list for its historical interest.
