Description
The Gables is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed rubble Doulting stone and features a gabled roof covered with double Roman clay tiles. The building has two unequal front gables with plain verges and a brick chimney stack. It is two storeys high with an attic in the larger front gable.
The front of the house has three windows, with the entrance located between the first and second windows. The entrance features a square-headed, moulded stone door surround and a framed, studded door. The ground floor includes two-light wood mullioned casement windows and a fixed light window, with a partly blocked entrance also having fixed light infill, all under wooden lintels.
On the first floor, there are two two-light and one three-light moulded stone mullioned casement windows, which are 19th century, and they have a common drip mould above the second and third windows. The attic features a stone-framed, two-pane casement window with a stopped drip mould.
