Description
The gatepiers and entrance to Chippings, located on the west side of St. Andrews Well and adjacent to a wall that runs north to St. Andrews Road, are likely from the 17th century and were restored in the late 20th century. The wall is roughcast over blue lias random rubble, measuring approximately 24 meters long and 3 meters high, and was originally part of a now-demolished dwelling. The gatepiers and entrance, which are not included in this listing, feature 20th-century squared and coursed blue lias, with semi-circular piers and tops attached to the wall, and a plank door. This structure is primarily listed as part of a group with No. 5 St. Andrews Road and St. Andrews Well, and it plays an important role in enhancing the street scene along the pathway leading to the well.
