Description
Meadow View is a cottage that may date back to the 17th century but was refronted in brick in the 18th century and extended at the rear in the 19th century. The front is made of rubble with red brick, and there are lias returns and a rear elevation. The roof has coped verges of brick and is covered with double Roman tiles, with brick stacks at the gable ends.
The building has a two-cell plan with a cross passage and an outshot, along with a single-storey addition on the north gable end. The west front features two storeys and three bays, with a central full-height porch that has a shaped gable. The first floor has two-light casements, while the porch contains a 20th-century window at its centre. The ground floor has three-light 19th-century wooden casements in segmental-headed openings that include keystones and voussoirs, and there is a semi-circular headed doorway with a keystone and impost blocks, leading to a 20th-century half-glazed inner door.
The single-storey, one-bay addition on the north gable end possibly features early 19th-century brickwork with lias quoins, a triple Roman tiled roof, and a three-light casement under a wooden lintel. Additionally, there is a lean-to double Roman tiled addition on the south gable end. The interior has not been seen, but the thickness of the front wall suggests that the brickwork is only a facing.
