GV Garston House ST 7747 NE 10/95 22.7.49 including Gates and Railings II
- First rated 1797. Set back from road with forecourt. Rendered front, cornice on brackets, parapet, string course to 2nd floor, rusticated quoins and plinth. Slate roof, 3 chimneys, 2 with modillion capping. 3 storeys with plainer single storey wings with moulded cornice and a set back 3-storey wing to right. Centre portion has 3 windows to 2nd floor, 5 windows to 1st floor, outer ones paired, and one pair each side of central door to ground floor. Glazing bar sashes in architraves. Original panelled door with cross pattern below and 2 cusp headed central panels; Tuscan portico. Low railings and 2 pairs of gates, to Garsdale and to Portway. Interior: East ground floor room has reeded Greek Doric columns and a good enriched ceiling cornice. Contemporary staircase with hall arch. Upper floors a warren of small rooms.
