Description
Garston Lodge is a Tudor-Gothick building dating from around 1835. It stands two storeys high and is constructed of ashlar stone, featuring a crenellated parapet and pairs of diagonal end chimneys on a slate roof, with one corner pinnacle remaining at the front. The building has weathered side buttresses and a plain band serving as a cornice. It has five bays, with the center bay slightly projecting. The windows are two-light ogee Tudor style, with stone mullions and drips, and sashes that include glazing bars and internal ogee panelled shutters.
A projecting central porch features clustered shaft colonettes and an ogee Tudor arch at the front, with similar blind side arches. The porch is also crenellated and has corner pinnacles, with glazed doors. There is a four-bay rendered return facing Vicarage Street, which includes two shop fronts and a parapet that continues between the roof slopes. Additionally, there is a four-bay return to Garsdale Yard, which has a projecting wing with a door to the right and a pointed door; three windows on the ground floor have marginned glazing.
