Description

These are two buildings of circa 1700, with remodelling occurring in the mid-19th century. They are constructed of rubble with block dressings and have pantile roofs topped by a central chimney. Each building has two windows on each floor, with glazing bar sash windows. Number 38 features two small shop windows on the ground floor; the one on the right has a cornice, and there’s a later six-panel door set within a central doorway. The gable end has two windows and an attic window, which is a flush-framed glazing bar sash. Number 39 has blocked windows visible from the interior, along with blocked lights for a winder stair on the ground floor and the upper first floor on the left-hand side. A rear first-floor window has an ovolo moulded stone frame with a hood mould. The interior of number 39 includes a stone vaulted cellar connected to the attic by a winder staircase, and cambered collars to the roof structure of the three-bay roof.
