Description
Wiltshires Barton is an early 18th century building, dating from around 1718 to 1722 based on historical leases. It is constructed of rendered rubble and features pantile roofs. The structure stands at 2½ storeys high with two gables. There are two-light flat mullion windows in the attic and first floor, while the ground floor has altered sash windows. A central door is present, along with a projecting gabled stair turret at the angle and a rear 'L'-plan extension, which is also 2½ storeys tall. The building has a studded back door with colored glass in the transom light and a garret light in the front gable end. Inside, there is a notable oak staircase from around 1700, featuring mossy buried balusters, a straight string, a heavy moulded handrail, incised risers, and ball capped newels. There is also a brick-lined cellar, which appears to be a later addition.
