Description
Manor Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse located on the east side of The Barton in Norton St. Philip. The front is made of dressed, coursed Doulting stone, while the rest of the building features uncoursed rubble. It has a double Roman clay tile gabled roof with three ashlar stone chimney stacks, one at each end and one in the center. The building is two stories high and has a nine-window front. The main entrance is located under the fifth window, with a second entrance under the eighth window. The doors are vertical boarded, with the first featuring a two-light fanlight above, set in a square head with bolection moulded architraves. The second door is similar but does not have a fanlight. The windows on the ground floor have mullion and transom stone frames with two-pane casements that are flush with the walls. The right-hand window is squat and has ovolo moulds. On the first floor, five alternate windows are blocked, with mullion and transom frames similar to those on the ground floor, but set in bolection moulded frames with moulded sills. A weathered string course runs at the first-floor level.
