Description
Number 16 is a house dated 1881, featuring Ham Hill stone ashlar on the ground floor, with pilasters, cill bands, and an eaves cornice. The upper floors are made of dressed coursed limestone rubble, and the rest of the building is brick. It has a slate roof with truncated brick stacks on the right. The house has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a three-window range. All windows are 2/2-pane sashes set under segmental arches; the left ground-floor window is tripartite. To the right, there is a carriageway opening with gates. The ground floor displays banded rustication and has a moulded cill band above. The door, located on the right return under the carriage arch, has four panels. The heavy double cast-iron gates at the carriageway feature spikes with scroll supports at the top and a lower half decorated with a trellis of circles, lattice, and spikes. The gates are included for their group value. The interior has not been inspected.
