Description
Drakes Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse, likely dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of local stone, cut and squared, with a thatched roof punctuated by stepped coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The house has two storeys and originally four bays. The windows are casements, with some frames of an early design, featuring horizontal-bar inserted lights. The upper bay 1 and bay 2 have 3-light windows, while lower bay 2, bays 3, and 4 have 4-light windows. Lower bay 1 has no ground floor window. A boarded door is located to the right of bay 2, set within a plain recess and framed by an open timberwork porch with a pitched roof of painted metal. A small lean-to addition projects from the north gable, featuring a 4-light window with chamfered frame members. The south gable appears to have been rebuilt in brick, and now has 20th-century sash windows.
