Description

The village pump, located on Merryfield Lane in Ilton, is a 19th-century structure made of cast iron. It features a circular shaft with two ring collars, resting on a circular plate base. The upper cylinder is of greater diameter and has a heavy cast-iron spout on the north side, which includes a bucket hook and a laurel-leaf ornament. The pump has a later flat top and a knob handle on the west side. An identical pump can be found in Stocklinch, which has the plate of Hutchings, Plumber, Ilminster.
