Description
The gateway and boundary walls, located about 25 metres south west of Ash House, date from the early 19th century. They are constructed from ham stone ashlar. The wall stands approximately 1.5 meters high along Main Street and 2.5 meters high along Back Street, featuring thin angled copings. In the south west corner, the gateway has square piers topped with flat cornice moulds, and there are no gates. On the east side of the gateway, there is a curved sweep leading to the further pier. This structure significantly enhances the setting of Ash House and contributes to the streetscape of the village, situated at an important corner site.
