Description
This barn, located about 100 metres northwest of Buckland House, has medieval origins and has been altered over time. It is constructed of mixed local stone random rubble, with some Ham stone quoins and stepped buttresses on the south front. The roof is covered with asbestos slate. The south front features a large opening beneath a wooden lintel, with a doorway to the left. The north end has a similar large opening below a wooden lintel, evidence of a demolished gable wing in the centre, a ventilation slit, and a smaller opening. The interior has not been seen. This impressive barn runs parallel to the road and is included for its historic interest as part of the medieval complex of buildings at the Hospitaller Preceptory that once stood to the southeast.
