Description
Battleborough Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, with a core that likely dates back to the 17th century. The front was remodeled in 1830, as indicated by a tablet on the right side that reads "J Harden 1830," accompanied by an heraldic shield. The building features stippled roughcast and a bitumenized slate roof that consists of two sections of slightly different heights, with coped verges and a central coping. There are three pairs of diagonally set rendered stacks, and the design reflects a Gothick style.
The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic and has a symmetrical facade with two bays on each side. It includes 3-light casements, where each light has a 4-centred head and stopped labels. The central door opening contains a six-panelled door that matches the overall style, and there is a rendered and gabled porch with a slate roof. An heraldic shield with a crest is positioned between the two right bays on the first floor, below raised lettering that states "Battleborough."
Inside, the right ground floor room features a cross-beamed ceiling and a wooden panelled east wall that includes a niche cupboard, likely dating from the first half of the 18th century.
