Description

Sturt's Farmhouse is a farmhouse with a wall linking an outbuilding at the rear, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick with raised ashlar pilaster quoins that continue as a cornice, and it features a slate roof with brick stacks at the gable ends. The building is a double pile facing northwest, with a kitchen wing adjoining the southeast corner, connected by a wall to the outbuilding.

The farmhouse has two storeys and three bays, all featuring 16-pane sash windows with stepped ashlar lintels. There is a central six-panel door set within a flat-roofed wooden pilaster porch. The single-storey wing, which is unlit on the northeast front, is made of coursed and squared blue lias, with a brick stack rising from the eaves. The brick wall abutting the farmhouse sweeps up over a pointed arch doorway. The outbuilding, made of coursed and squared blue lias, has a double and triple Roman tiled roof and is one and a half storeys tall, also unlit on the northeast front. The interiors have not been seen. This property forms a good group with its surroundings.
