Description

Great Bow Bridge is a road bridge over the River Parrett, completed in 1841. It is constructed from local lias stone ashlar and features three wide elliptical arches, each with impost courses and keystones. Above the arches is a band course, leading to a plain parapet that extends into long wing walls at each end. The center of the bridge has a gentle hump. The bridge was first mentioned in 1220 and was last rebuilt by the Parrett Navigation Company, with assistance from the corporation.
